People are at the heart of our business. Our focus on addressing food insecurity and early interventions in child & youth mental health help us create healthier tomorrows for more Canadians.
Chalo! FreshCo supports food bank drives in communities across Canada to bring awareness to food insecurity. We also host a range of events in partnership with community leaders throughout the year with a goal of reducing hunger and highlighting the items most needed by local food banks.

CHILD & YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH INITIATIVE
We've partnered with Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations to help create, A Family of Support: Child and Youth Mental Health Initiative, an initiative that builds a Canada-wide circle of care for child and youth mental health.
This groundbreaking partnership addresses the critical need for early interventions in child and youth mental health. A Family of Support: Child and Youth Mental Health Initiative funds local mental health programs which support specific provincial needs at 13 Canadian children’s hospitals, including those in communities Chalo! FreshCo calls home.
COMMUNITY ACTION FUND
The Chalo! FreshCo team has a long history of giving back and now our local communities need us more than ever. That's why we created the Community Action Fund. In the early days of the pandemic, our passionate network of stores and teammates connected with their local communities to create localized solutions that helped address their most urgent needs. We trust that our store teams know their communities best; that’s how the Community Action Fund was able to direct food and funds to make an immediate, meaningful difference. We have seen various organizations benefit from the fund including: food banks, seniors centres, school lunch programs, youth and homeless drop-in centres, hospitals, and so many more.
